This is the most tool-like entry on the site. ARPAPLUS gave it gradients, textures, patterns and glitter as fill types, a zoom control for detail work, and the ability to move dolls and backgrounds around the page — which makes it closer to a simple illustration program than to a styling game.

The background being paintable is what changes the exercise. A figure and its backdrop coloured together become a composition rather than a cut-out, and the zoom makes edge work possible in a way flood-fill alone would not.

Colour without numbers is the stated approach, meaning nothing tells you what belongs where. That is the whole appeal and also the reason to plan a palette before starting — an unlimited fill set is only useful if something constrains it.

1. Place the doll and background before colouring anything.
2. Fill the large areas with flat colour or gradients.
3. Zoom in for edges and small fragments.
4. Add texture, pattern or glitter to one or two areas only.

Colour the background at the same time as the figure. Treating them as one composition rather than two stages is what turns a coloured doll into an actual page.
